We condemn the violence that we have witnessed across the country since 29 July, including racist rioting, Islamophobia, antisemitism, and hatred against those who have fled persecution to our country.
We reject this appalling violence and stand in solidarity with those affected. We are especially disturbed by the targeting of Muslim communities and places of worship, hatred directed at other minorities, attacks on emergency service workers, and harassment of refugees and asylum seekers. We are grateful to those who have responded to and prevented further attacks.
Informed by our history and values, we urge people to avoid sharing misinformation and remain vigilant to harmful ideas designed to divide communities.
We thank the organisations working tirelessly to record and respond to incidents around the country, including Tell MAMA and CST, and urge our friends and supporters to report prejudice and hatred wherever they appear.
