Online Event: Presentation of the Oral History Database “Final Account”
May 12 @ 2:00 pm - 4:00 pm
Join us for the joint online Opening of the Access to the archival Oral History Database “Final Account” at the Vienna Wiesenthal Institute for Holocaust Studies (VWI) and the Freie Universität Berlin (FUB).
The Final Account archive contains life story interviews with men and women in several countries, including Germany, Austria, France, the Netherlands, Belgium, Paraguay, Argentina, Romania, Spain, and Ukraine, about their memories of, and involvement in, the so-called ‘Third Reich’, the Holocaust, and World War II. It consists of 295 filmed interviews, around 500 hours, with 274 elderly men and women born between 1905 and 1934, mostly Germans and Austrians, who occupied a range of positions on a wide spectrum of complicity. The collection was created by Luke Holland between 2008 and 2017. Since 2022, researchers have been able to access the collection at UCL and The Wiener Holocaust Library in the UK, and at the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel in France.
Final Account – Third Reich Testimonies is an archival project initiated and directed by Luke Holland (ZEF Productions Ltd,) in association with University College London, the Wiener Holocaust Library, the Institut National de l’Audiovisuel (France) and Founding Partners, Pears Foundation.
The VWI and the FU are happy to announce that “Final Acount” is now accessible at their respective premises.
