This project began in July 2013 when we advertised a call for submissions of book art works under the theme of “Displaced”. We were looking for artistic responses to the Holocaust and other genocides that engage with the book as a medium of memory and history.
The call had an overwhelming response, with over eighty submissions by artists from thirteen countries around the world. The entries include hand-crafted artist books and altered books, some using duplicate books provided by the Wiener Library.
For further information about the winners of the competition please visit our News page. You can also view images from every featured artist on our new Pinterest page. We invite you to follow and interact with us online by sending your own photos of the exhibition and the Library to our Learning team.
