Our new mini Reading Room exhibition, The Contributions of Jewish Refugees to British Life, illustrates the contribution to Britain made by Jewish refugees from Nazism and features unique materials from our collections.

This exhibition is being held for this year’s European Jewish Days of Heritage and Culture 2017, (3-17 September), the theme of which is ‘The Jewish Diaspora’.

Jewish refugees from Nazism who settled in Britain include scientists (sixteen of whom were Nobel Prize winners), along with composers, musicians, entrepreneurs, artists, writers, historians, photographers and many others. This small exhibition reflects the myriad of ways that Jewish refugees enriched British life in the post-war period.
