In 1947, following research and interviews with survivors, Rachel Auerbach published this pamphlet entitled In the Fields of Treblinka. The pamphlet is a comprehensive account of the Treblinka extermination camp.
Auerbach ran a soup kitchen in the Warsaw Ghetto and worked for Emanuel Ringelblum’s underground archive Oyneg Shabes. She managed to escape in 1943 and survived in hiding. In 1950, Auerbach emigrated to Israel, where she headed the Eyewitness Accounts Department at Yad Vashem. She later testified against Adolf Eichmann at his trial in 1961.
