Correspondence between Dr HG Adler and our founder, Dr Alfred Wiener.
Text Description
In the Library's own institutional archive we hold extensive correspondence with over 1600 different individuals and institutions. Included in this collection are over 100 letters between Czech Holocaust survivor and intellectual Dr HG Adler and our founder Dr Alfred Wiener.
In addition to Adler's long-term freelance work for The Wiener Library, these letters shed light on his own academic work, the wide acclaim his seminal study on Theresienstadt received, and his efforts to edit a second book on the topic. His work Theresienstadt 1941-1945, published in 1955, is regarded as one of the foundation works of Holocaust Studies.
