Another example of Tarnschriften (disguised anti-Nazi pamphlet) from our collection. In this instance a pamphlet written by German writer and Communist Gustav Regler is hidden in this packet of tomato seeds. Regler had left Germany in the 1930s, becoming political commissar of the Garibaldi Brigade during the Spanish Civil War.
The Wiener Holocaust Library has the largest collection of Tarnschriften outside Germany, approximately 200 titles in total.
