Text Description

This certificate from the Swedish Embassy in Budapest authorised George Brody to act as caretaker for a block of flats which was used by the Swedish embassy to act as a safe haven for Hungarian Jews, signed by Raoul Wallenberg.

As Sweden's special envoy to Budapest, Raoul Wallenberg saved the lives of thousands of Hungarian Jews by issuing protective passes (Schutzpass). He disappeared in January 1945 and has since been recognised as one of the Righteous Among the Nations.
