Dr Wiener had been a vehement campaigner against Nazism since the 1920s, and brought his collection to London when the outbreak of war seemed unavoidable. CC Aronsfeld was recruited to work at The Wiener Library in 1939, eventually rising to the position of Deputy Director.
In the years following the Second World War the Library assisted the prosecutors at the Nuremberg Trials, amassed early survivor testimony and helped to shape the emerging academic study of the Holocaust. It is likely that this footage was produced to raise awareness of these activities.
