Your legacy gift can help us rise to the challenges of the future
Absolutely anyone can make a gift in their will to The Wiener Holocaust Library and it is an extraordinarily valuable way of supporting our work.
We are a registered charity and, with no taxpayer funding, we depend on the voluntary support of individuals and organisations for our continued existence.
Your legacy gift can help ensure that the Library is able to create ever greater access to our collections through our unique combination of teaching, exhibitions, research and outstanding resources.
Here are just some of the ways your legacy could help us:
Safeguard our collections
Your donation could cover the cost of conserving fragile historic pamphlets or digitally preserving precious original documents.
Inspire the next generation
Our public education and outreach programme enables hundreds of visitors, young and old, to visit and experience this unique institution every year.
Your gift could enable more workshops and activities at schools and community groups, or put on a major exhibition at the Library.
How do I leave a legacy to The Wiener Holocaust Library?
We recommend you seek independent legal advice when writing your will to ensure it is legally valid and reflects your intentions.
Leaving a part or your entire estate to charity can reduce, and in some situations, eliminate the Inheritance Tax liability.
To discuss leaving a gift in your will, please email our Development Coordinator or call us on 020 7636 7247.
The Wiener Library Endowment Trust
The Wiener Library Endowment Trust was constituted on 12 November 1984 and is a registered UK charity (charity registration number 290660).
There are six trustees with a legal or investment background who supervise the assets of the trust (pro bono) in order to provide an enduring long-term source of a significant part of the core Wiener Holocaust Library overhead costs. To this end the Trust invests the capital it receives to generate the annual grant (currently £220,000 per year) which is paid out of a combination of income and capital depending upon investment performance. The current trustees of the Endowment are: Tracey Campbell (Chair); Pierre Davis; Charles Elliott; Martin Fraenkel; Andrew Kaufman; and Thierry Serero and the accounts can be found online on the Charity Commission website.
From time to time we receive legacies and annual donations to enhance the endowment and thus ensure its long-term ability to support the Library. Should you wish to join our current supporters please contact [email protected] or [email protected] at the Library itself. We are eligible for donations through Achisomoch or they can be transferred direct to our CAF bank account whose details can be sent on request. Our team would be happy to discuss the wording of a legacy should you wish to leave something in your Will. Substantial donations (as long as they are not anonymous) are recognised with a memorial plaque on the wall of the Library by the Reading Room entrance.
