Short Description
This German language cookbook for refugees in the UK aimed to teach newly arrived domestic servants to cook classic British dishes.
Text Description

A self-published book by the Viennese dietician Kitty Köberle is an instuction entitled “How do I cook in England”. It was a very helpful book for foreigners working in English households as it included numerous recipes and instructions such as "Making tea" but also a dictionary for the home and kitchen.

It helped foreign maids on domestic service visas feel more confident about how to make an English bed, how to light a fireplace, or how to cut sandwiches very thinly.
